Why am I running?

Every day it gets harder for families to keep living in Chelsea, even though they’re working harder than ever. Our children need more resources during the school day and after. Our small businesses are being gutted by inflation. I’m running for City Council because I have the experience and commitment we need to create a better Chelsea. Working together, we can make sure Chelsea remains a city where we can afford to live, have access to good opportunities, and be treated with dignity and respect.

As a School Committee member, I advocated for millions of state dollars that are now flowing into our schools, ensuring a bright future for my son and all our children. As a union organizer, I’ve been fighting for workers and retirees. Last year, I helped us win the Fair Share Amendment, which represents two billion dollars a year to fix the T and invest in our children. I also supported immigrants getting the driver’s licenses they need and deserve. We won, but we still have more work to do. I’m ready to keep fighting for Chelsea!

What I Have Accomplished

Serving as your School Committee member has been one of the biggest privileges of my life, and I am looking forward to continuing my work as your City Councilor.

As a School Committee member I have:

  • Brought together 130 leaders from across Massachusetts to fight for and win the funding our students were promised after it was put on the budget chopping block

  • Created over 100 new educator and counselor jobs to meet our students’ academic and mental health needs

  • Funded the Chelsea Opportunity Academy, a program to get students who struggled with traditional schools back on track

As a Union Organizer I have:

  • Organized to ensure we have the resources needed to invest in transit infrastructure and education

  • Protected seniors by fighting for adequate yearly cost of living increases to their pensions

  • Advocated to protect workers and immigrants in the workplace and beyond
